The New York-to-LA 60-hour record attempt in a 1930 Ford Model A came to an end just outside of Amarillo, Tex., on Tuesday afternoon. After having covered more than 1,700 miles with little incident, aside from an overheating issue in Zanesville, Ohio, that ate up several hours, the car driven by Australians Rod Wade and Michael Flanders suffered a broken crankshaft. The duo planned to set a new record for a pre-war car by driving in their 1930 Ford Model A, nicknamed "Tudor Rose," across the U.S.
The new Range Rover Evoque is soon to rub shoulders with British tuning specialist Project Kahn. This teaser picture has surfaced online, suggesting a full-on makeover, showing off go-faster stripes and Cosworth branding to give the Evoque a sporty edge. Kahn is rumoured to be working on Ford's 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which has plenty of scope for tuning. The Blue Oval produces a maximum of 240bhp in its current applications.
Alex Yeung of Kahn Designs confirmed the project to CAR.
Does that mean the Gran Lusso previews a new 8 Series from BMW? Probably not, any more than last year’s BMW Zagato Coupe from Villa d’este spawned a new BMW, but it’s an interesting idea to revive a big V12 coupe when the rest of the car world is downsizing. BMW aren’t giving much away about the Gran Lusso beyond these few photos, but it’s clear from those tease photos that it has a makeup similar to the 8 Series, with a long nose, two doors and swooping coupe roofline.
